Illustration Friday: "Cats"

Illustration Friday: "Cats"
(water color)
This is my very first attempt with water color, and to be honest, I had NO CLUE what I was doing. But I guess this is how you learn, right? I had some good water colors, but only one fat brush and no idea how to mix color with the water. Need to start looking this up somewhere!
I think I will redo this guy in pencil to see what the difference would be.
OK, here is a quick pencil sketch I did while the other picture was drying:

Wow man--not bad at all for your first time with color! You're a natural. Hope to see a drawing then as well.
This looks great. Nice job.
Really? Thank you! I'll be off to the art-supply store to buy real brushes this weekend. I don't think my little "toy model" bruush cuts it.
First time watercolor really? This is great! I enjoy watercolor but I wish I could be that loose and expressive with it. Keep it up you seem to have a real feel for it. Way to go.
What a beautiful cat! I think you did very well on both of them. They are unique in their own way.
i really like it! it is very painterly and i like that feel and your colours are great!
Very ferocious! Good job playing with the watercolors...you have nice control:>
Hola Ray!
I'm so proud of you, this watercolor is very good! Actually, I like it better than the sketch on pencil.
Keep working, because you are doing such a great job.
You have the feeling!
Greetings,
Maricarmen.

Thank you so much everyone! I was so disappointed in how my water colors came out I almost didn't post it. But, from the sounds of all of you with FANTASTIC watercolor works, I am very encouraged to keep going with it!!! I will do next weeks in watercolors as well to practice.
Thank you!
This is FANTASTIC! Hard to believe it is your first watercolor! Your pencil drawing is great too!
Wonderful color...I love this!
Tony the Tiger look out....you have met your match.
Now about those little cats that walk on key boards...nothing scares them...just saw your post at The Library!

Yes, I concur with what the rest of these folks say... great job and amazing first go. Scrolled through your pencil drawings. All wonderful.
